Construction Begins on Two LNG Bunkering Vessels for GSX Energy
China’s Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering (CIMC SOE) has started construction of two 20,000 m3 LNG bunkering vessels for GSX Energy.
The Chinese shipbuilder held a steel-cutting ceremony on August 21 for the vessels, it said in a press release on Friday.
The pair are the third and fourth vessels in a series being built by CIMC SOE for GSX Energy.
Construction of the first vessel began in May, while the second started on August 10.
The 159 m vessels have a 25 m beam and a design speed of 13 knots.
They will feature Wartsila dual-fuel main engines, 1,300 kW shaft generators and dual-fuel boilers with gas combustion unit functionality.
The vessels are designed for LNG bunkering and carriage, with ice-class requirements incorporated into their design.
CIMC SOE signed an agreement to build LNG bunkering vessels for GSX Energy in October 2025.
The shipbuilder did not disclose the vessels’ delivery dates.
