Japanese firm Tamba Shipping and Fairfield Maritime Japan have formed a 50/50 joint venture to provide “customised solutions for charterer requirements”.

Called FT Ebisu Maritime, the new company will be based at Fairfield Maritime Japan’s offices in Tokyo, the companies said in a joint press release yesterday.

The two companies signed the agreement to establish the joint venture on September 28.

It will serve domestic and international shipping markets, with a focus on chemical, product and gas tonnage.

The partnership brings together two family-owned shipping companies with a history of working together over several decades.

“We’re looking forward to growing our business together in a manner reflective of our histories,” Koichiro Tamba, President of Tamba Shipping, said.

“We believe this joint venture will open opportunities for both companies, and will provide our clients with a stable partner, greater access to vessels and a broader range of shipping options,”  Ryuichi Osonoe, President of Fairfield Maritime Japan, said.
