Vessel Hit by Projectile While Exiting Strait of Hormuz
A vessel was struck by an unknown projectile earlier today while transiting outbound through the Strait of Hormuz, according to a British government agency monitoring maritime security in the region.
The incident was reported at 01:35 UTC today in the Strait of Hormuz, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a social media post today.
“A Company Security Officer reported that a vessel was struck by an unknown projectile while conducting an outbound transit of the strait,” UKMTO said.
“The impact caused damage to the engine room and resulted in a crew casualty.”
“The remaining crew are being assisted by the Oman Coast Guard.”
“No environmental impact has been reported.”
Tensions in the region remain high after US President Donald Trump said on Monday that US would not extend its MoU with Iran, which expired that day, and urged Iran to surrender.
