Gulf Petrochem Group (Gulf Petrochem) today announced that it has begun offering physical supply of MGO on the River Thames, and that they have expanded their Rotterdam operations with the addition of a new time-chartered barge, the Melbourne.

"Our experienced and dedicated team in the UK and Europe, supported by our global offices will continue to supply our customers with consistently high-quality products and customer service to match," said Prerit Goel, Group Director at Gulf Petrochem.

"We expect to grow our UK and overall European offering throughout 2017 and capitalize on favourable market conditions."

The group’s new UK deliveries will be carried out using the Conveyer - a barge on an exclusive long-term charter.

The new development is said to enable Gulf Petrochem to supply ISO compliant gasoil to its customers at all ports and wharfs along the Thames and Medway.

"The UK has always been a market we are extremely interested in and with us seizing the opportunity to supply physical on the Thames, shows how fast the group can mobilise when we see interesting areas of expansion," said Chris Todd, Head of Bunkers (West of Suez) for Gulf Petrochem.

"The Thames is our first in our UK portfolio and we expect to add to this over the coming months.

In Rotterdam, the 4,200 DWT Melbourne is said to enable the group to meet increased demand they have witnessed over recent months.

"With regards to the increase in fleet capacity in Rotterdam, this has been purely driven from a demand perspective so we can cater to our customer’s needs," said Todd.

Last month, Gulf Petrochem announced that it had "further strengthened" its European bunkering division through the development of a Russian and Baltic trading desk within its Rotterdam office.
