- O Bunkering to buy 48 million litres of MGO a year directly from OQ RPI
- Supplier says the contract "will reflect on our prices with our clients"
- Contract starts November 4 and covers all ports in Oman
Omani marine fuel supplier O Bunkering has signed a contract to buy marine fuel directly from OQ Refineries and Petroleum Industries (OQ RPI), the refining arm of state energy group OQ, covering 48 million litres of marine gas oil (MGO) a year, about 41,000 mt.
"Today we signed a contract to purchase directly from OQ RPI, and this will reflect on our prices with our clients," the company told Ship & Bunker on Wednesday.
"It will also develop our supply chain in the ports of Oman."
The contract strengthens an existing partnership with OQ RPI and opens new opportunities for collaboration in marine energy, the company said in a statement announcing the deal.
The contract started on November 4 and covers all ports across Oman, the company said.
O Bunkering supplies bunkers, marine lubricants, and ship agency services at Sohar, Duqm, Salalah, and Muscat, as well as ports in Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf region.
Last year it added Muscat's Port Sultan Qaboos to its supply locations under an agreement with ASYAD Ports.
O Bunkering says the OQ RPI deal supports Oman's ambition to become a leading regional hub for maritime services and marine energy under Oman Vision 2040.
