Axpo Completes Its First LNG Bunkering Operation in Valencia
Energy company Axpo has completed its first LNG bunkering operation in Spain's Valencia, supplying a container ship with a fuel mix containing more than 50% bio-LNG.
The ship-to-ship transfer was carried out on Tuesday by Alisios, Axpo’s 12,500 m3 LNG bunkering vessel, the firm said in a press release on Tuesday.
The operation makes Valencia the fourth Spanish port where Axpo has supplied LNG, following earlier deliveries in Málaga, Algeciras and Barcelona.
“This operation further strengthens our presence in the LNG market, serving customers in a growing number of key European ports,” Daniele Corti, head of small-scale LNG at Axpo, said.
In May, Port Authority of Valencia granted six-year LNG bunker supply authorisations for the same three ports to Shell Western LNG and Axpo Iberia.
