Physical bunker supplier Peninsula says it has completed the first LNG bunkering operation at the Spanish Port of Sagunto.

The operation took place on September 15, with Peninsula's LNG bunker vessel Levante LNG supplying the car carrier Thor Highway, operated by Japanese shipping company "K" Line, the company said in an emailed press release on Wednesday.

Peninsula holds a licence to supply LNG as a marine fuel in the ports of Valencia, Sagunto, and Gandía.

The company says the delivery adds to the availability of alternative marine fuels within the Valencia port cluster.

It credited the Port Authority of Valencia, the Maritime Authority, the Pilotage Service, and Civil Protection teams with coordinating the operation.

In May the port authority granted six-year LNG bunker supply authorisations for the same three ports to Shell Western LNG and Axpo Iberia.
