Bunkering in Istanbul Wednesday was once again hit by a build up of heavy fog in the region, local sources have told Ship & Bunker.

"There are over 250 ships waiting to pass the Bosphorus, which was closed at 02:30 am due to heavy fog," a local source told Ship & Bunker.

"There are a large number of ships waiting at both sides."

Such weather is not unusual for the Turkish port; last month some 168 ships were said to be waiting to transit the Bosphorus, and 118 ships were waiting to transit the Dardanelles strait, due to a build up of heavy fog.
