Ferry Company Signs up to Vessel Efficiency Agreement

A Mediterranean ferry company is to install vessel efficiency software across its fleet. 

Finland's Eniram, which was acquired by engine manufacturer Wartsila last year, has signed a five-year service agreement wih Corsica Linea.

The company's five ships will operate to Eniram's real-time, performance management standards.

"With Eniram's solutions, Corsica Linea is able to reduce fuel costs and optimize its operations," a company statement said . "The agreement takes into account "upcoming regulations concerning the monitoring, reporting and verification of carbon dioxide emissions from maritime transport", the statement added.

Under European Union rules, ship operators must report carbon dioxide emissions each year.

Corsica Linea plies routes between Marseille and the Mediterranean island of Corsica.
