AB Klaipėdos Nafta (Klaipėdos Nafta) Wednesday said it has received notification that the European Union's (EU's) Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) has approved €4 million ($4.39 million) in funding from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for its Baltic Sea liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, which includes the development of LNG bunkering.

The funding, organised under the grant agreement "Blue Baltics – LNG infrastructure facility deployment in the Baltic Sea region," is said to be specifically intended to support the development of a LNG reloading station, small scale LNG equipment for the Klaipėda LNG Terminal, and LNG jetty equipment.

The construction of the Company's LNG reloading station is noted to be currently under construction and expected to begin operations in the second half of 2017.

In July, Ship & Bunker reported that the CEF Coordination Committee had approved €15 million ($13.53 million) in financial support for the joint Blue Baltics project.
