Kongsberg Maritime to Work with Klaipedos Nafta on Small Scale LNG Bunkering Under New MoU

AB Klaipėdos Nafta (Klaipėdos Nafta) and Kongsberg Maritime AS (Kongsberg) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate the sharing and development of expertise in the field of liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals, including small LNG bunkering operations, PortNews IAA reports.

The agreement between the two companies is also noted to cover floating storage and regasification units (FSRU) operations, LNG terminal technologies and systems, FSRU simulation models and scenarios, simulators as the design and planning tools, and international LNG terminal projects.

"Klaipedos Nafta has proven its capability and performance regarding LNG Terminal development, execution and Operation. Kongsberg Maritime is proud to take part of the future LNG development and to support with our long experience and knowledge in the LNG business," said Cato Franck, Vice President LNG & Offshore Production units at Kongsberg Maritime.

"Integrated lifecycle simulation and performance optimisation together with our fully integrated LNG crew trainer solutions will be part of this. We look forward to develop our LNG regas and LNG bunker solutions together with Klaipedos Nafta."

In Septmember, Ship & Bunker reported that KONGSBERG had announced that its software and maritime simulation technology division, Kongsberg Digital, had signed contracts with Sweden's Chalmers University of Technology, Kalmar Maritime Academy, and Linnaeus University, which will see the development of a simulator model of a hybrid LNG-powered cruise ferry, including vessel bunkering and operations.
