Two unknown projectiles struck a tanker in the engine room 14 nautical miles northeast of Lima, Oman, on Tuesday, according to a British government agency monitoring maritime security in the region.
The incident was reported by the vessel's company security officer at 19:00 UTC, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a social media update today.
UKMTO added that no casualties or environmental impact had been reported at the time of the warning.
The incident followed an attack on an Indian-crewed dhow sailing outbound through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.
The Oman Royal Navy rescued the surviving crew, but UKMTO said it was unaware of the vessel's status.
