A tanker was struck by two unidentified projectiles off Saudi Arabia’s eastern coast while transiting the Persian Gulf on Sunday, according to a British government agency monitoring maritime security in the region.
The incident was reported at 23:47 UTC yesterday about 72 nautical miles east of Ras Al Khafji, as the vessel was travelling southeast, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a social media post today.
The projectiles struck the vessel on its port side.
All crew members were accounted for, and no environmental impact was reported.
Separately, UKMTO reported another vessel attack in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday.
