Norwegian shipping company Utkilen has taken delivery of a new LNG-fuelled tanker from Turkey.
The 7,500-DWT vessel, M/T Listraum, was delivered on October 22 at Icdas Shipyard in Turkey, the company said in a social media post yesterday.
It is the second vessel in a four-vessel series.
The global LNG-fuelled fleet is currently made up of 953 ships, with another 759 ships expected to join the fleet by 2030, according to classification society DNV data.
LNG is seen as a more mature and widely available marine fuel than methanol.
However, methane slip reduces its climate benefits. Bio-LNG offers a cleaner option and can be used in existing LNG-fuelled ships.
Several LNG-fuelled ships are already seen bunkering bio-LNG in Europe.
23,613 mt of bio-LNG was sold in Q3 in Rotterdam, up from 7,506 mt in the previous quarter.
