A tanker was struck by two unknown projectiles off the coast of Qatar on Wednesday, according to a British government agency monitoring maritime security in the region.
The incident was reported at 23:20 UTC about 50 nautical miles North of Madinat ash Shamal, Qatar, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a social media update today.
The status of the crew, vessel damage and environmental impact remain unconfirmed at the moment, UKMTO added.
Vessels continued to come under attack around the Strait of Hormuz despite diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between the US and Iran.
UKMTO had reported another vessel attack off the coast of Oman on Tuesday.
