MISC Names New Dual-Fuel LNG Carrier for QatarEnergy Charter
Malaysian maritime company MISC Group has named its new dual-fuel LNG carrier at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea.
The 174,000 m3 vessel, Th'ailib, is the first of three newbuild LNG carriers secured by MISC under long-term time charter agreements with QatarEnergy, the firm said in a press release yesterday.
It will be chartered to QatarEnergy for 15 years from 2026.
The dual-fuel carrier is equipped with a reliquefaction system, air lubrication system and anti-fouling hull coating aimed at improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions intensity.
MISC said the three vessels form part of the second phase of QatarEnergy's LNG fleet expansion programme. The company previously participated in the first phase through a consortium arrangement involving 12 LNG carriers.
The remaining two vessels are scheduled for delivery as MISC continues to expand its LNG fleet.
