Everllence Unveils Technology Integrating Air Lubrication With Main Engine for Efficiency
Everllence has introduced Engine Supported Air Lubrication (ESAL), a new technology that integrates hull air lubrication with air from the main engine to improve vessel efficiency.
ESAL can deliver net efficiency gains of up to 6%, reducing fuel consumption, emissions and regulatory costs, it said in an email update on Wednesday.
Everllence said the technology provides value regardless of future fuel choices or regulatory developments.
It has also conducted multiple onboard trials across several vessels.
The company said improving energy efficiency is a key step in shipping’s transition to net-zero operations.
“Less fuel consumed leads directly to lower absolute emissions, lower compliance costs, and lower exposure to volatility in both fuel prices and regulatory costs,” Per Cato, SVP, Head of Engineering Two-Stroke, Everllence, said.
