Hempel Launches Epoxy Coatings for Newbuilds
Coatings manufacturer Hempel A/S has launched a new range of Performance Standard for Protective Coatings (PSPC)-compliant coatings for newbuilds, the company announced in an emailed release.
The pure epoxy Hempadur Quattro XO system was initially designed specifically for ballast water tanks, but can also be used as a uni-primer for most vessel areas above and below the waterline, said the company.
The product also comes with the option to upgrade with aluminium pigmentation and fibre reinforcement technology for extra durability and anti-corrosion.
"This new product range has been in development for three years and builds on the wide success of our existing HEMPADUR QUATTRO family of epoxy coatings," said Product Manager Roger Chen.
The company added that in addition to being fast drying, the product can also be applied year round in temperatures ranging from -10 degrees to 40 degrees Celsius.
"Making use of the state-of-the-art pure epoxy technology and providing opportunity to reinforce performance with aluminium pigmentation and proprietary micro-fibre reinforcement technology ensures exceptionally high protection at a reasonable price," Chen said.
"We have listened carefully to our customers and produced the new XO coating to tie in with their specific requirements."
In January, the company also launched two new coatings for cargo tanks and ship surface maintenance.
