Dromon Bureau of Shipping (DBS) has announced that it has signed an agreement with Interorient Shipmanagement to provide verification services under for the European Union (EU) Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) regulation.

As Ship & Bunker has reported, the MRV regulation requires shipping companies to submit ship-specific monitoring plans to verifiers for approval by the end of August 2017, with per-voyage monitoring set to start on January 1, 2018.

Under the agreement, DBS will act as the verification body for Interorient Shipmanagement, assessing monitoring plans and verifying annual emissions reports of the company's fleet.

"Interorient Shipmanagement has developed in an early stage the monitoring plans for its complete fleet by updating existing management system procedures that combine environmental, health and safety and quality standard," explained DBS.

The new agreement comes after news in March that DBS had been accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) as a verifier in relation to the EU MRV regulation.
