Four More States Become Party to BWM Convention

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) today announced that four more states became party to IMO’s Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention this week.

As Ship & Bunker has reported, the BWM Convention is set to enter into force on 8 September 2017.

The Bahamas deposited its instrument of accession on Thursday following the accession by Singapore the same day.

Australia ratified the convention on Wednesday, while the United Arab Emirates (UAE) deposited its instrument of accession on Tuesday.

"This brings the number of States party to the BWM Convention to 59, representing 65.18 percent of the world's merchant fleet tonnage," stated IMO.
