Air lubrication firm Silverstream has joined the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping (MMMCZCS) as a mission ambassador.
The company will share its engineering and operational experience to support the centre's work on energy efficiency and help address barriers to wider adoption, it said in an emailed update on Tuesday.
Silverstream has more than 160 vessel installations in service, representing a combined 19 million DWT across the global fleet.
“Reaching zero emissions in shipping will require innovative thinking and a mix of technologies and reducing the energy ships need in the first place makes every pathway to zero more achievable,” Bo Cerup-Simonsen, CEO of MMMCZCS, said.
“Shipping’s path to net zero needs ships that use far less energy, whatever fuel they burn,” Noah Silberschmidt, CEO and founder of Silverstream, said.
MMMCZCS is a not-for-profit research and development center established in 2020 with funding from the A.P. Moller Foundation.
