AxDo Bahamas has signed an 11-year LNG supply agreement with Excelerate Energy to support the development of a planned LNG storage and distribution hub in the Bahamas.

The agreement provides for deliveries of up to 16 trillion British thermal units (TBtu) of LNG annually, making AxDo Bahamas an anchor customer of the planned facility near Grand Bahama, Axpo said in an emailed update on Thursday.

AxDo Bahamas is a joint venture between energy company Axpo and Bahamas-based energy and maritime logistics company Domicisle LNG. It was established in October 2026 to conduct small-scale LNG and bunkering operations in the region.

The planned Bahamas LNG Hub will serve marine bunkering, power generation and other downstream customers, supporting growing LNG demand across the Caribbean.

Initial LNG deliveries are expected to begin in 2027 using Excelerate's existing LNG supply and logistics capabilities from its Jamaica platform.

A second phase is expected to involve the deployment of a floating storage unit (FSU) near Grand Bahama in 2028, subject to permitting, construction timelines and contractual conditions.

The FSU will serve as an offshore LNG storage and distribution terminal, with Grand Bahama's location along a busy Caribbean shipping corridor positioning it to support cruise ship bunkering and regional LNG distribution.

Axpo has been expanding its LNG bunkering network. The company supplied its first LNG stem in Spain's Valencia last month.
