Terra Mater and Hyperfuels Partner on Low-Carbon Fuel for Recreational Marine Sector
Belgium-based Terra Mater and US-based Hyperfuels LLC have partnered to expand the availability of Terrox, a low-carbon, ethanol-free fuel blend component option for recreational marine sector.
The companies announced the collaboration at the International Fuel Ethanol Workshop this week, with an initial rollout planned for the US East Coast in the third quarter of 2026, Hyperfuels said in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday.
Terrox is designed to be blended with gasoline and marketed to boaters, marina operators, marine dealers and specialty fuel distributors.
Based on Terra Mater's patented 2X technology, the product is intended to burn more cleanly than conventional gasoline while helping reduce moisture absorption and phase separation issues that can affect boat engines and fuel storage systems.
"Marine customers are increasingly looking for fuel options that deliver both reliability and environmental value," Jess Hewitt, director and owner of Hyperfuels LLC, said.
“The marine sector presents a strong opportunity for solutions that improve fuel quality while supporting broader sustainability objectives,” Dr Kapil Shyam Lokare, CEO of Terra Mater BV, said.
Terra Mater said its production facility at North Sea Port in Belgium is positioned to supply initial volumes of the product, with planned output of around 6,000 mt/year.
