Aegean Looking to Grow as Keith Richardson Heads Up US West Coast Operations
Keith Richardson, Director of Supply at Aegean Bunkering (USA) LLC., has moved to Los Angeles to head up the firm's West Coast operations, Richardson has confirmed to Ship & Bunker.
"The move has been in the works for a while now and is in line with the strategy outlined by [Aegean President E. Nikolas Tavlarios] in the latest earnings report," Richardson said, adding that he would also be responsible for offshore Gulf supply.
"We're now looking to grow Aegean's footprint on the West Coast, in the areas both to the North and the South."
Aegean started supply on the US West Coast following last year's acquisition of the LA/Long Beach operations, one of a series of acquisitions that also saw Aegean take on its physical supply operation in the Offshore-Gulf of Mexico.
The new operations have made a positive contribution the supplier's global sales volume of the 7.8 percent year-on-year growth in Q1, while Q2 saw global sales jump 18.5 percent to 3,150,950 metric tonnes (mt), compared to 2,659,620 mt for the same period in 2014.
"Demand is in line with expectations, as the West Coast of the U.S. has remained competitive versus Asia."
Elsewhere in the Americas, Aegean's physical operations includes the five East Coast supply locations in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Chesapeake (also serving Norfolk and Newport News) and Charleston; the two Caribbean supply locations in Jamaica and Trinidad and the other long standing West Coast supply location in Vancouver, Canada.
Aegean says it is also seeing strong demand in Fujairah, and last week said it expects volumes there to ramp up significantly with the opening of two additional loading points.
