The Port of Seattle Commission has approved a new long-term lease amendment with Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH), extending the operator’s Seattle homeport agreement through 2035.

The agreement includes options to extend through 2045, subject to continued sustainability performance and decarbonisation progress, Port of Seattle said in a statement on its website on Tuesday.

Under the deal, NCLH will continue operating cruises from Seattle’s Pier 66 while supporting infrastructure projects, environmental initiatives and local community programmes.

The two sides will also work on a demonstration project to test sustainable non-fossil marine fuels in Seattle and assess the infrastructure and supply conditions needed for wider adoption.

Additional commitments include participation in underwater noise reduction programmes and support for a goal of 100% zero-emission shoreside operations by 2030.

NCLH has operated Alaska cruises from Seattle since 2000 and plans to homeport four vessels in Seattle during the 2026 season.
