Japan Opens Second Round of Zero-Emission Vessel Programme
Japan has opened the second funding round of its ¥15 billion ($94 million) programme to support the construction of zero-emission vessels and related marine equipment.
The budget programme, administered by the Japan Ship Technology Research Association (JSTRA), began accepting applications on August 21, according to an announcement on Friday.
The programme aims to establish a domestic production base for zero-emission vessels and supports facilities for engines, fuel tanks, fuel-supply systems and ship outfitting equipment.
The second call covers vessels using hydrogen, ammonia and electricity through batteries as propulsion energy sources.
The programme carries a five-year government commitment of ¥15 billion, including ¥1 billion in the FY2025 supplementary budget.
