Matrix Bharat Pte LTD (MXB) has resumed physical bunkering in the Indian port of Kochi after completing a four month upgrade project on its facilities, Platts reports.

The overhaul is said to have included improvements to the company's pipeline for better flow rate, as well as an increase in storage by way of two new 5,000 metric tonnes (mt) tanks, boosting the facility's capacity from 7,500 mt to 10,000 mt.

The new tanks are said to be the largest of their kind in Kochi, and the pipeline's flow rate is reported to have been boosted to 120-150 mt per hour from a previous 70 mt per hour for barge loading.

MXB is a joint venture between Matrix Marine Fuels L.P. and state-owned Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited.

In October, MXB announced the deployment of Royal Yamuna in Mumbai, a new 1,000 DWT capacity bunker barge it says is "set to take the bunkering market in Mumbai by a storm."

The bunker player is also currently looking to hire a Senior Bunker Trading Manager.
