Singapore Supplier Pleads Guilty in Illegal Bunkering Case
Bunker supplier Progressive Power Co Pte Ltd (Progressive Power) has pleaded guilty to supplying fuel without a valid licence, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) announced.
MPA brought charges against the company for eight instances of illegally acting as a bunker craft operator between March 2013 and July 2013 and seven instances of illegally acting as a bunker supplier between October 2012 and January 2013.
In the seven bunker supplier transactions, MPA said Progressive Power used bunker delivery notes (BDN) belonging to Lian Hoe Leong & Brothers Pte Ltd (Lian Hoe Leong), which lost its licence on January 15, 2014 over their involvement in the case.
Progressive Power's guilty plea concerned five of the charges, with the other 10 taken into consideration.
MPA's cancellation of Lian Ho Leong's licence, along with the license of another supplier said to have misused BDNs, were the first of this year, coming after a number of similar cancellations in 2013.
