Friday February 21, 2014
Taiwan's principal bunker supplier, CPC Corporation (CPC), saw its 2013 annual bunker sales grow 2.6% year-on-year to 1.35 million metric tonnes (mt), Platts report.
According to a company source, demand had increased after a fatal pipeline explosion last November in Qingdao, East China disrupted operations and resulted in the suspension of bunkering operations.
During the suspension, Hong Kong and Japan were said to have seen an increase in demand.
Bunker sales by state-owned CPC account for more than 90% of Taiwan's total, according to a CPC source.
