The MV Lucky Seven, a casino vessel that grounded on a sandbar at the mouth of India's River Mandovi at 9 p.m. on Saturday, is being debunkered of 12,000 litres of fuel, local media reports.

James Braganza, Captain of Ports (CoP), said that once the vessel's fuel is removed it will be towed to Mormugao Port Trust.

Anand Madgaonkar, a state ship salvager, told local media that possible oil spillage from the grounded ship could cause damage to marine life.

"The owner needs to tow it as early as possible but I don’t think it is possible before a week since the weather conditions are not favourable as of now," said Madgaonkar.
