International Bunker Supplies (IBS) Tuesday announced that it will offer IFO 180 cSt and MGO in the Australian port of Townsville, effective immediately.

"Initially supply of IFO180cst will be via pipeline to ships at berth 1 only," explained Mark Patman, IBS CEO.

"We are in the process of working with the terminal operator to build a truck loading gantry specifically for fuel oil and this will enable us to supply at most berths, which will allow truck access as well as ports near to Townsville, such, such as Cairns."

The truck loading gantry for fuel oil is expected to be operational from late October of this year, while MGO deliveries will also be via truck and are already available to all accessible berths.

IBS says it is also planning to reinstate the fuel oil delivery pipeline to Townsville berth 2 and 3, but Patman says there is no firm date for this but it "will take some time" to be operational.

The company also supplies bunkers at the country's Port of Gladstone and, more recently, the Port of Darwin.

IBS says it will continue to expand its presence in niche bunker supply locations.
