New Fuel-Saving Bulker Lives Up to Expectations
Deltamarin Ltd. (Deltamarin) says the first of its B.Delta37 design bulk carriers to be delivered to China Navigation has had its fuel-saving design elements confirmed in tests and sea trials conducted before delivery.
The MV Wuchang, the first of a series of 16 handysize bulk carriers using the design, was delivered from Chengxi Shipyard in China on October 18.
The B.Delta37 design promises best-in-class fuel efficiency, low emissions, Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), and lightweight particulars, Deltamarin says.
Lloyd's Register is handling the approval and survey of the vessels.
The vessel's EEDI value is "well over" 20 percent below the bulk carrier baseline.
Deltamrin said in May that it had received a total of 59 orders for B.Delta design vessels from customers including China Navigation, HBC Hamburg Bulk Carriers, and Tunisia's Transbulk.
