Deltamarin Ltd. (Deltamarin) of Finland says twelve recent orders for bulk carriers using its fuel-efficient "B.Delta" designs have brought total orders for the series to 59.

German shipowner HBC Hamburg Bulk Carriers has ordered three vessels, and Tunisia's Transbulk has ordered 2 vessels from the series. Both orders come with options for further vessels.

Under option clauses from previous orders, China Navigation Company has ordered four more of the ships, Italian ship owner d'Amico Societa di Navigazione S.p.A. has ordered one, and M.T. Maritime Management group has ordered two.

Construction for all 59 orders have been placed at Chinese shipyards.

The B.Delta design is focused on fuel efficiency, with hull form, propeller, rudder, and main engine solutions intended to reduce bunker consumption.

The orders include variations on the basic B.Delta design for specific applications.

Two ships in the B.Delta series, CSL International's MV "Rt. Hon. Paul E. Martin" and Klaveness's MV "Balto" have already been delivered.

In January, Deltamarin said it was designing five fuel-efficient chemical tankers for Stolt Neilsen Ship Finance Ltd. based on the B.Delta design.
