U-Ming Marine Names First LNG Carrier
Taiwan-based shipping firm U-Ming Marine has held a naming ceremony for its first LNG carrier, Diamond Gas Jade, at Samsung Heavy Industries’ Geoje shipyard in South Korea.
The 174,000 m3 vessel was built by Samsung Heavy Industries and is equipped with a dual-fuel propulsion engine and energy-saving technologies, the firm said in an email statement on Wednesday.
U-Ming said the vessel marks the company’s official entry into the LNG transportation sector and forms part of its diversification strategy alongside its push toward green shipping and net-zero goals.
Following delivery in August 2026, the LNG carrier will begin long-term transportation operations supporting global energy logistics.
The company said it is also continuing its fleet expansion programme after recently approving orders for four Capesize and four Ultramax bulk carriers.
U-Ming currently operates a fleet of 84 vessels across bulk carriers, tankers, LNG carriers and offshore wind support ships.
