Finnish energy company Gasum said it had pooled 642 vessels for the FuelEU Maritime 2025 reporting period.

The pool covered 190 document of compliance (DOC) holders and 550 vessel owners across the global fleet, the company said in a latest LinkedIn post.

The company added that all vessels were successfully pooled and re-verified despite revised ice class calculations issued by the European Maritime Safety Agency.

FuelEU Maritime, introduced in 2025, sets limits on the carbon intensity of marine fuels and allows pooling, where surplus compliance can offset deficits from other vessels.

Gasum has been using bio-LNG to power its LNG bunkering vessels to generate compliance units for the pool.

Gasum said the pools fully complied with the updated calculation requirements and that the economic risk for customers had been mitigated.

The company added that by managing the pooling process, it helped clients avoid compliance and financial risks linked to FuelEU Maritime requirements.
