Mozambique-based physical supplier Oceania Bunkering Mozambique is set to start ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering operations at Beira Anchorage in October.

The company will use its newly delivered Great Wall Energy 1 barge to supply LSMGO to vessels at the anchorage, the company told Ship & Bunker on Friday.

The 4,283-DWT barge was delivered in 2026 and has a fuel-carrying capacity of about 2,500 mt.

The barge is being positioned at Beira to provide a reliable LSMGO supply option for vessels transiting the Mozambique Channel.

The company said the move comes as longer voyage routes around the Cape of Good Hope have increased the need for additional bunkering options in the region.

“At the initial stage, Oceania Bunkering will be supplying LSMGO exclusively,” a company representative said.

“As our operations develop throughout the year, we plan to introduce additional marine fuels, including VLSFO.”

Oceania Bunkering is supported through a partnership involving Petromoc and CFM Logistics, Mozambique's state-owned entities responsible for fuel and port-related infrastructure and operations.

The partnership brings together fuel supply, port infrastructure and maritime logistics capabilities under the Oceania Bunkering operation.

“With the delivery of Great Wall Energy 1, we are bringing a new physical bunkering solution to the international market and establishing Beira as an additional supply point for vessels operating in the region,” the company said.

Oceania Bunkering operates across major Mozambican ports including Maputo, Beira, Nacala, Pemba and Quelimane, according to its website.

The company supplies VLSFO, MGO, HSFO and marine lubricants in Mozambique.
