AYK Energy to Electrify Two Dutch Workboats
AYK Energy has secured two projects with Dutch maritime system integrator Gebhard Electro to supply battery systems for workboats in the Netherlands.
The first project is a new trailing suction hopper dredger being built by Damen Shipyards for UK Dredging, part of Associated British Ports, the firm said in a LinkedIn post on Monday.
AYK will supply a 318kWh liquid-cooled Polaris battery system for the diesel-electric vessel, with Gebhard Electro handling electrical installation and integration.
The second project will see Port of Rotterdam patrol vessel RPA 8 converted from hybrid to fully electric propulsion.
AYK will provide a 1,640kWh PiscesA+ battery system, while Gebhard Electro will integrate the electrical system.
AYK said the projects will support more efficient, lower-emission vessel operations.
The companies have previously worked together on the fully electric maintenance vessel Volta and hybrid tug VB Kracht.
