MSC Partially Resumes Suez Canal Transits
Container shipping firm MSC is partially resuming Suez Canal transits on a limited number of East-West services following a review of security and operational conditions in the Red Sea.
The move covers selected eastbound and westbound voyages for MSC’s Asia-Mediterranean, Asia-North Europe and India-Mediterranean routes, MSC said in a notification on Monday.
The first sailings under the revised plans began on August 20.
The first vessels to transit under the revised plans include MSC Michel Cappellini, MSC Josefina, MSC Beryl, MSC Anna and MSC Tina.
MSC said the return would be implemented on a service-by-service basis, while booking confirmations and schedules are updated.
Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk have also resumed Suez Canal transits under their Gemini Cooperation, while CMA CGM has returned to the route on selected services.
