UKMTO Reports Four Vessel Attacks in Strait of Hormuz
Three tankers and a container ship were struck by unknown projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, according to a British government agency monitoring maritime security in the region.
Three incidents involved outbound vessels, while the container ship was struck while transiting inbound through the strait, UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a recent social media post.
In warning 166-26, UKMTO said an outbound tanker had been struck by an unknown projectile.
The crew were confirmed safe, while the environmental impact remained unknown.
A container ship was struck during an inbound transit, according to warning 167-26.
Two further reports, warnings 168-26 and 169-26, concerned a product tanker and a crude oil tanker, respectively, both struck during outbound transits.
The frequency of vessel attacks in the Strait of Hormuz has increased in recent days, with UKMTO reporting around eight incidents since Saturday.
