Maritime technology firm Kongsberg Maritime has received a simulator statement of compliance from classification society DNV for a new engine room simulator model based on the Hoegh Aurora multi-fuel-ready vessel design.

The simulator is linked to the Aurora Class ships being built for Norway-based car carrier operator Hoegh Autoliners, Kongsberg said in a statement on its website on Wednesday.

The 9,100 CEU LNG-fuelled pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) are designed with multi-fuel capability and are prepared for future use of methanol or ammonia.

Kongsberg Maritime said the approval confirms the simulator meets DNV’s maritime simulator requirements and can be used for advanced crew training worldwide.
