Sources: Bunkering Halted at Novorossiysk Due to Bad Weather
Sources at Russia's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk say strong winds and sea swell halted bunkering operations Thursday, adding that poor weather conditions could persist for up to four days, Platts reports.
Vessels are said to have canceled bunkering operations in preparation for anticipated poor weather conditions, which sources said was affecting bunkering at other nearby ports as well.
Novorossiysk prices for IFO380 dipped $4 on Thursday in response, according to Ship & Bunker data.
However, local players are reported to hold varied views on the direction that prices at the port will take in the coming days as a result of the situation, with some offering a forecast of a price rebound.
At the beginning of March, Ship & Bunker reported that a lack of bunker supply at Novorossiysk had become severe and was expected to persist for weeks to come.
