Engine Room Fire Reported After Tanker Hit in Hormuz Strait

A tanker was struck by an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, causing a fire in the vessel’s engine room, according to a British government agency monitoring maritime security in the region.
The incident was reported at 16:37 UTC yesterday at the Strait of Hormuz, UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a social media post today.
“The Master of a tanker reports being struck by an unknown projectile, causing a fire in the engine room of which the crew are fighting,” UKMTO said.
“There are no reported casualties or environmental impact at the time of this warning.”
UKMTO has reported four attack incidents in the Strait of Hormuz since Saturday.
