Navios Partners Takes Delivery of LNG/Methanol-Ready Boxship
Greece-based Navios Maritime Partners has taken delivery of a container ship suitable for conversion to LNG or methanol propulsion.
The 7,900 TEU ship, Navios Cyan, is the first in a four-ship series ordered by the company, Navios Partners said in a LinkedIn post on Monday.
The vessel is also equipped with scrubber systems.
Several vessels have been ordered and delivered with methanol-ready notations as shipowners prepare for future marine fuel transitions, although most have yet to be converted to operate on methanol.
“The vessel signals a significant milestone for Navios Partners fitted with Alternative Maritime Power and latest state of the art equipment demonstrating the strong commitment to reduce emissions, build environmentally friendly vessels and take advantage of the latest technological developments,” the post states.
Navios Partners operates a fleet of 173 vessels, as per the firm’s website.
