  • Fujairah sold 225,767 m3 of marine fuel in August, down 2.6% from July and 65.3% year-on-year.
  • First-eight-month sales fell 57.3% year-on-year to 2.12 million m3.
  • 380 CST VLSFO sales rose 4% month-on-month to 149,202 m3.
  • 380 CST HSFO sales fell 17% to 58,339 m3.
  • Fujairah’s average VLSFO price rose to $807.5/mt in August, according to Ship & Bunker.

Fujairah, a major bunkering hub in the Middle East, has seen marine fuel sales more than halve this year as the Iran war disrupts shipping flows through the Strait of Hormuz.

Sales showed a slight recovery in July but dipped again in August, with volumes so far this year remaining below last year’s levels as the ongoing conflict continues to weigh on shipping activity and bunker demand.

A total of 225,767 m3 of marine fuel, excluding lubricants, was sold last month, a drop of 2.6% from July’s volume and 65.3% from August 2025, according to latest data published by the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone and S&P Global Commodity Insights.

Despite the decline, August sales remained above the lows recorded in May and June.

HSFO sales saw the sharpest monthly decline.

Sales of 380 CST HSFO fell 17% from July to 58,339 m3 to August, and were down 69.1% from the same month last year.

VLSFO sales, meanwhile, increased month-on-month in August.

Sales of 380 CST VLSFO, Fujairah’s most-sold grade, rose 4% from July to 149,202 m3 in August. However, volumes were still 64.7% below August 2025.

LSMGO sales increased 11.4% on the month to 18,045 m3, but remained 52.1% below last year.

MGO sales fell 33.9% from July to just 111 m3.

A total of 2.12 million m3 of marine fuels were sold in Fujairah in the first eight months of this year, down from 4.96 million m3 sold in the same period last year.

The figures underline the impact of the prolonged disruption, with Fujairah’s bunker demand more than halving from a year earlier.

According to Ship & Bunker price data, Fujairah’s average VLSFO price in August was $807.5/mt, up from $762.5/mt in July and $498/mt in August 2025.

Ship & Bunker’s G20-VLSFO Index, which tracks average prices across 20 leading bunkering ports, was $810/mt in August, up from $760/mt in July and $534.5/mt a year earlier.
