A tanker was struck by an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) near Oman’s Sohar anchorage on Sunday, according to a British government agency monitoring maritime security in the region.

Local authorities are assisting with the evacuation of the crew and assessing the damage, UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a social media post today.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs said on Sunday that two of the 11 Indian seafarers onboard the MT Petro Dolphin were missing.

“We condemn the attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz region on 11 October 2026,” the ministry said.

“MT PETRO DOLPHIN was reportedly struck by a drone, with two of the 11 Indian seafarers onboard reported missing.

“MT VALTHERA, a Marshall Islands-flagged tanker, was struck by an unknown projectile, resulting in a fire onboard. All 11 Indian seafarers onboard MT VALTHERA are reported to be safe.”

Meanwhile, US forces struck the Panama-flagged vessel MV Ocean Molica on Saturday, saying it had violated the ongoing US naval blockade against Iran, according to CENTCOM.
