Babcock LGE to Supply Fuel Gas Systems for Ammonia Carriers
Babcock LGE has secured a contract to supply cargo handling and fuel gas supply systems for three 90,000 m3 very large ammonia carriers (VLACs).
The contract was awarded by an East Asian shipyard on behalf of Thenamaris LNG, according to an emailed press release last week.
The vessels will use Babcock LGE’s ecoAPEX technology, which the company said can improve reliquefaction efficiency by up to 33% and reduce energy consumption by around 25%.
The order marks the first contract award for the ecoAPEX technology following its launch and approval in principle from Lloyd’s Register.
Babcock LGE has also secured orders for six ecoSMRT LNG reliquefaction systems for a Middle East shipowner. Each system has a capacity of 1.9 tonnes per hour
