The Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD), AIM Horizon Investments and Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) have financed two wind-assisted propulsion projects through the Fund for Energy Efficiency Technologies (FEET).

The projects cover vessels Pacific Sentinel and Pacific Sunstone, each fitted with three 22 m suction sails, GCMD said in an emailed statement on Tuesday.

They are the first vessels in EPS's fleet to use wind-assisted propulsion systems.

FEET offers up to 100% upfront financing through a pay-as-you-save model, linking payments to independently verified fuel savings.

GCMD developed a methodology to measure the technology's performance, analysing 276 million data points collected over four months of spot-market trading in the Americas in 2025.

The fund is managed by AIM Horizon Investments, with GCMD acting as decarbonisation adviser.

The Development Bank of Japan, DBS Bank and ING also support the initiative.

“With a methodology now in place to quantify those savings, FEET’s first projects with EPS take the next step: testing how pay-as-you-save financing works in practice, by linking payments to verified fuel savings,” Lynn Loo, CEO of GCMD, said.
