The US is looking to extend its suspension of port fees on Chinese-linked vessels for another two months.
The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has proposed keeping the measures suspended until January 9, 2027, according to a notice published in the Federal Register on Monday.
The current suspension is due to expire on November 9.
It began on November 10, 2025, following talks between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The proposed extension would keep the relevant maritime transport fees and associated duties suspended during the additional two-month period.
USTR said the extension would allow further negotiations with China over the policies and practices covered by its investigation into China’s maritime, logistics and shipbuilding sectors.
The agency is seeking public comments on the proposal, with submissions due by October 30.
