Crude futures continued to soften today as the U.S. dollar firmed making dollar denominated commodities less attractive to holders of other currencies.

Brent contracts for January fell below the critical $40.00 threshold, settling at a new low of $39.73 per barrel.

WTI front month contracts softened $0.40 cents lower since last close, settling at $36.76 per barrel.

Bunkers were mostly soft today in the primary ports.
