MSC Cruises' New LNG-Fuelled Ship Floats Out in France
Friday October 2, 2026
Cruise line MSC Cruises has floated out its new LNG-fuelled cruise ship at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France.
The MSC World Atlantic was floated out on September 26, the company said in an announcement on Wednesday.
MSC World Atlantic will be the 25th ship in the MSC Cruises fleet and the fourth LNG-fuelled vessel in its World Class series.
The ship is scheduled to begin operations in the Caribbean from November 2027.
LNG is seen as a more more mature and widely available marine fuel than methanol.
However, methane slip reduces its climate benefits. Bio-LNG offers a cleaner option and can be used in existing LNG-fuelled ships.
